Globetrottin'

Since I'm already in California, it only makes sense to go and visit some family on the side of the 50 nifty states! I'm flying to Sacremento in order to visit my cousin, his wife, and their new baby!

I've been begging all of my married cousins to have a child for 9 years now. Let me claify and say that I only needed one of them to have a child. After that one child was born, I said I was done and don't need anymore. But lucky me my oldest cousins on both my mom and dad's side had a kid this year! I got a girl who I'm obsessed with and spend every waking moment possible with, and a boy who I'm going to visit tomorrow!

Attention cousins: please note that you do not need to have children in order to maintain our friendship anymore. My empty threats shall cease now that I have not one, but TWO little bundles to spend my money on. Thank you to those two for their cooperation.

That is all.

p.s. First trip to Sacremento!

EDC

Amazing. No wait, I'm completely underselling it-let me try again....

It was the most ELECTRIFYINGLY EUPHORIC experience I've had in 20 years, and I want to do it again.

Despite the fact that we came across some difficulty finding each other when we arrived (due to shitty cell phone service) we ended up drinking and partying hard enough to make up for the lost time. The coliseum was filled with +130,000 people all raving to the likes of Moby, Will.i.am, Steve Aoki and Deadmau5. There were 5 stages, carnival rides, neon lights, cabanas, men on stilts, people in crazy costumes, I could go on and on!

We ended up leaving early but we both decided that next time if we go,  we're going to do it the right way now that we know how.

Ughhh I want to go back.

(Sry for the bad photo quality, I forgot my camera so these are from L's phone)

Getup Threads

I've always been a hippie at heart, but being in So Cal is nothing less than inspiring. Everyone here has such an effortlessly chic and organic, I love it. Here was my attempt to be as beautiful and simple as everyone around me.

The jacket I have is so old it's almost vintage, I got it from Forever 21 years ago and it's still one of my favorite pieces. It looks like this one from Buckle but mine is cropped and faded a little more. I felt so chic yet comfortable all day, and all the materials were surprisingly light so I wasn't burning up

Shirt: H&M
Jacket: Forever 21 (Buckle)
Jeans: Old Navy Rockstars
Shoes: Payless
Bag: Urban Outfitters

Under Construction

Although I am a Big, Brown, and Beautiful mamacita, I realized that it wasn't exactly what my blog was about. My blog is more about who I am as a person and the things that make me tick, laugh, cry, and inspired. BBB represents an obvious physical description and a large part of who I am...but there's so much more.

I'm kind of digging Flawless Fluff right now...ideas? I love words so here's some other words I was throwing around during my revamping!
quirky
urban
fearless
funky
cracked
fabulous
radiant
surplus
I think it was between quirky surplus and flawless fluff. hmmm...

Give me a few days and I'm going to get the site to look as perfect as I am.

Until tomorrow...

Electric Daisy Carnival

One of the advantages of being in California is the music and festivals that take place all over the state! Lucky for me most of them are held during the summer and this weekend is the

ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL!!!!

It's a giant techno fest with carnival rides, a concert and carnival in one. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!

Anyways I don't know what to wear so I'm taking a impromptu (yea right) shopping trip today! Someone told me I should wear my Bright Outfit which is actually great inspiration. I was thinking headscarf, pink keds, and some neon duds.

Any suggestions?

Getup Threads

This isn't exactly an outfit post but due to my lack thereof I figured I'd post a hair post! I'm staying at my sister's place while she's on here honeymoon because it's dramatically closer for me to go to my internship. I woke up at like 7 as per every other day but didn't have to wake up until 8:30!

So what did I do-Easy! Watched Saved by the Bell reruns and played with my hair.

This is the perfect look after you've rocked some beach waves for a few days and want to change it up and show off your summer glow!

1. Comb through your hair with your fingers to get it smooth and in order to remove some of the frizz.
2. Put a small amount of product (moose, gel, serum) in your palms and rub it from your forehead to your crown along your roots in order to prevent frizz and is maintained throughout the day.
3. An inch behind the top of your ear take a square centimeter of hair (make sure it's a long piece and not a layer) Comb and straighten if necessary.
4. Tightly braid the piece to the end and fasten with a rubber band (using a rubber material is better than a fabric scrunchie in this case)
5. Tease the crown of your head and secure all of your hair in a pony tail without the braid.
6. Take the braid across your head and secure with a safety pin on the other side!

Tips:
Tuck the braid under hair so the rubber band isn't seen and secure with a bobby pin.
Tease and curl pony tail if needed for more dramatic look.

I hate the fact that I can never find fake braids in my hair color and this was my quick solution. My only complaint was that it was one of those days where you look supercute but no one sees your outfit. Oh well...I did!

Blah, Blah, Blah

I can't say that I'm sorry I haven't been posting the past few weeks. Some times when you write things down in a fit of passion you regret it later, and especially for you my dear readers I find that the things I say are engrained in me and on this blog.

The past few weeks have been a transition to say the least. I've spent countless hours gushing over my precious niece who will be 5 months next week and the rest of the time at my internships (and the tiring commute in between.)

They say when one part of your life is perfect, the rest has to wreak havoc. I don't know if that applies to my current situation but it's definitely close. I'm making it a priority to blog once everyday for the next week regardless of what it may be. Over that time we'll get some perspective on life and transition together.

I'm in an optomistic mood today especially because I'm wearing these amazing vintage esque (Nordstrom Rack) shoes that I got super cheap and are still full price at Nordstroms! Cha-Ching!

Me bored and waiting for my bosses to show up. But more on that later.

Until 2morrow....
